Da'wah

Da'wah [dæwæ] n 1. a call    2. an invitation

Assalaamu alaikum and welcome to the ICHC Da'wah webpage! To begin, da'wah is an invitation to Islam where one may learn more about this beautiful religion. We are so excited to be a part of this team and hope that you will also find a place on here, either through volunteering, donating, sending suggestions or making dua'a for the da'wah efforts. Please check out all the initiatives we have planned and don't hesitate to send us an email at [email protected] if you have any questions.

2024 marks the first year that New Jersey celebrates January as Muslim Heritage Month. In lieu of January's Khidmah project, we were able to hold two wonderful events at two of our public libraries, alhamdulillah. We had food, prizes, crafts and educational tables and videos to let people know about our deen, as well as different contributions from Muslims throughout history.

Washington D.C. march for gaza

Alhamdulillah, on January 13, 2024, we were able to get a bus and go over to Washington D.C. to march for Gaza. A group of ICHC community members traveled together and stand up for the injustice happening to our brothers and sisters in Palestine.

ICHC open house

Alhamdulillah we had out first open house at our new masjid on Oct. 21! We had 150 non-Muslim guests come and visit. It gave us an opportunity to not only give a tour of our masjid but more importantly it allows us to fulfill one of our main obligations of informing our non-Muslim community about Islam. Jazakullah khair to all the volunteers! Those who brought food, did the activities, tours, manned the tables, and the brothers who did wudu 100 times! And those that cleaned up. May Allah accept from all of us! Ameen!

october khidmah: Dawah for open house

The Khidmah project: september edition

Our September service will be helping the elderly. We have arranged with Hunterdon Care Center to facilitate a "carnival" on their campus, as well as going into rooms to read to those who cannot physically join in on games and activities. Volunteers can choose to help with games, do readings/chats, refill bird feeders, etc.

We will be going to Hunterdon Care Center (1 Leisure Ct, Flemington, NJ 08822) on Saturday, September 16 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Please consider volunteering for either the entire time or at least a portion of it. If you are able to commit, please fill out the form so that we can let the Center know how many of our community members will be coming. If you are bringing anyone with you, please indicate that in the form below. By filling out the form, you are releasing ICHC, as well as the Hunterdon Care Center, from any liability that may occur while volunteering.

The Khidmah project

We are SO excited to announce a new outreach initiative: The Khidmah Project.

Khidmah, which in many languages means service, is heavily encouraged in our faith, as the Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, "The best people are those that bring most benefit to the rest of mankind," (Daraqutni, Hasan).

The Khidmah Project will be a monthly community service based initiative; every month there will be a different "theme", for example, assisting the elderly, environmental, feeding the homeless, helping animals, etc. For each month, we will announce the day(s) for which we have arranged our volunteers to go into different organizations.

We are planning to launch in September, inshallah, so please stay tuned for our first Khidmah Project opportunity!

ESL Classes

Alhamdulillah we had a wonderful session of ESL classes this summer. The free classes, which ran for six weeks, were open to anyone who was interested in learning English. The majority of our students were from the wider community. We look forward to holding classes again next summer, inshallah :)

Street da'wah at the summer fiesta in flemington (July 29th)

This was our first street dawah booth and alhamdulillah it was a great experience. We had many people ask us questions about Islam and we handed out over 20 copies of the Qur'an in both Spanish and English. Inshallah we plan on continuing da'wah efforts such as this in order to educate our wider community about Islam.

Br. Saif's sunday da'wah

For the past few months, every Sunday morning, Br. Saif and his son, Omar, have been going around Flemington and handing out warm meals and Islamic literature to people in need. We are now looking for volunteers to help by either cooking meals or donating to help cover costs for food and Islamic literature.

To help lighten the load, we are splitting the twenty meals in half so that one person is able to sign up for ten meals; two people for each Sunday. Examples of meals are beans, rice and chicken, pasta, sandwiches, etc. Meals should be individually packaged for easy distribution. Drop offs should be done at 8:30 a.m. on the Sunday morning at the masjid (304 Route 12). Br. Saif will be there to collect the meals.
